Educational Tours - History & Leisure Tour - Egypt Highlights

There is much more to Egypt than its history!

An Educational trip to Egypt offers a wealth of variety for a vast range of subjects.

For students of Ancient History a visit to Egypt is essential but opportunities abound for students studying art, literature, technology, sociology, tourism, geography, religious studies, architecture and the built environment.

We are able tailor imaginative and inspiring tours that will develop a student's understanding of their subject. We are passionate about Egypt as a destination for educational tours and would enthusiastically encourage you to discuss your particular requirements with us.

Egypt Highlights Tour - General Information

The Highlights Tour offers all the Classic sites in Cairo and Luxor as well as the opportunity to take part in some other exciting and unusual excursions. We would recommend this programme for first-time visitors to Egypt or for Student groups. We can arrange excellent accommodation at a price to suit your budget.

This programme offers either an extended stay in Luxor or there is also an opportunity for the more adventurous groups to visit the Red Sea area and take part in a variety of watersports and desert quad-biking - as well as (for adult groups) enjoying one of the many nightspots.

CAIRO

Cairo, the capital of Egypt, has been described as the city with a thousand minarets. This city - the crossroads of the ancient world - is where old and modern meet in a seething populace that makes Cairo the original city that never sleeps.

From Cairo you will be able to visit the Pyramids of Giza - The Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramids of Khafra and Menkaura, the Giza Necropolis and the Majestic Sphinx with its unwavering gaze towards the sunrises of the last four and a half thousand years.

The Egyptian Museum at Cairo is a must, even if you only see Tutankhamen's treasure. Then see history brought to life at the Pharaonic Village, where actors perform scenes from everyday life in setting provided by reproductions of ancient monuments, buildings and tombs.

The Pyramid Complex of Djoser is just a short journey away at Sakkara and you can see some of the earliest buildings ever constructed from stone, including the Stepped Pyramid designed by the famous architect - Imhotep.

THEBES (LUXOR)

Thebes - The City of a Hundred Gates - was the ancient capital of Egypt during the New Kingdom. Today the city carries the name of Luxor and here you can see on the East Bank, inscribed into the walls of Karnak and Luxor Temples, how the Pharaohs lived their lives in service to the gods. Then visit the West Bank and the Valley of the Kings to see how their tombs were prepared to ensure their immortality in the afterlife.

You should also visit the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut and the gigantic Colossi of Memnon. Whilst on the West Bank you can visit the Tombs of the Nobles, the Valley of the Queens, Medinet Habu Temple of Ramesis III, and choose from a whole host of other tombs, temples and sites of antiquities to satisfy your quest for adventure and history.

Luxor life passes by at a far more sedate pace than Cairo and after your visits you can relax as you watch life go by, virtually unchanged since Pharaonic times. No visit to Luxor would be complete, however, without a hot-air balloon ride at dawn over the Great Theban Necropolis.

HURGHADA (RED SEA)

For the holiday adventurer who is looking for something different, then the Red Sea Resorts can offer you every type of water sports imaginable. Or, if relaxing by the beach is your idea of a holiday then you can find no better. The Red Sea provides some of the best areas in the Northern Hemisphere to see marine life in its unspoilt environment. You can take part in Scuba Diving, Snorkelling or just enjoy the incredible beauty as you gaze in wonder from a glass bottomed boat.

For the young and the young at heart, you can enjoy one of the many clubs and night spots that line the main thoroughfares or enjoy a quiet drink in a beach-front bar and watch the moon rise over the Red Sea.

If action is your thing then look no further than a five hour quad-bike safari that takes you into the Eastern Desert to enjoy a Bedouin barbeque and camel ride.

What used to be a simple fishing village, Hurghada is now one of the top tourist areas in Egypt, Offering 20 km of beach stretching along the coast of the Red sea with its crystal clear water, multiple shipwrecks and unharmed reefs. If it takes place in or on the water you can do it here: windsurfing, sailing, deep-sea fishing, but, above all, snorkeling and diving. The unique underwater gardens are some of the finest in the world offering diving sites that will amaze even the most experienced divers.

Frequently Asked Questions

We know that it is important to you to ensure that your Educational Tour is Professionally Managed and that you will have many questions about the destination, the accommodation, how the booking process works and what guarantees you have. The senior members of our team combine expertise from four fields: Travel, Egyptology / Archaeology and Education. With our Senior Team having over 20 years personal experience in travel and tourism, you can rest assured that you are truly in expert hands.

We have tried to provide the answer to the most Frequently Ask Questions below. If you have a particular question that we have not thought of, please let us know - We're happy to help.

Simply click on the "Enquire Now" button which will take you to our online enquiry page. You will be able to select various options such as which airport you would like to fly from and dates of travel and tell us about any particular requirements you have for your tour.

You will have a dedicated Travel Consultant who will initially send you a quote by email and then continue to work with you to ensure that we meet all your requirements and provide the highest level of service.

If you are happy with the quote you have received, simply send a reply email confirming that you would like to proceed and we will begin the booking process immediately. If, once you receive your quote, there is something you would like to change then smiply let us know.

Remember - We're always Happy to Help!

There are so many different options available for any particular tour that provide opportunity for a more cost effective price or upgrades with certain hotels that you might miss out on a better deal. Additionally, you might have your own particular curriculum requirements that need to be built into the itinerary.

We strongly believe that a real person is better able to make intuitive decisions about an educational tour enquiry than a computer programme that will not have the same dedication or commitment to providing the best possible service.

Rest assured, you will always be dealing with a real live person and you will have direct contact with the same person all the time. You will never have to deal with an anonymous person in a call centre.

It is our absolute, number one, priority to ensure that you are happy with the details of your Tour Itinerary before you book and it is important that you have the time to do this.

It is also important to remember, however, that prices change all the time (particularly the cost of flights) and it is with this in mind, that we would urge you to try and confirm the booking as soon as possible. We will provide a quote according to your enquiry for the best prices on the day. Communication is the key to getting the best deal and we will work to ensure that we respond to your requests as quickly as possible to guarantee the best prices for you.

Our usual ratio of free places is one member of staff for every 10 students. It is occasionally possible for us to arrange other 'free place' ratios. If you would like to receive a quote for other ratios then please let us know in your initial enquiry.

The Itinerary shown for this trip is only a suggested itinerary and is completely flexible. The itinerary can be used as a starting point from which to develop a programme that is most suited to your curriculum requirements. If you feel that the suggested itinerary meets your needs then it can certainly be used as it stands for your trip.

We don't sub-contract to other tour companies and we use our own guides and tour leaders which means we can enjoy working with you before you travel and during your trip to ensure that all of your requirements are met and your learning targets are achieved.

We have available full and comprehensive Risk Assessments prepared to the strictest LEA requirements. The documents are made available Free of Charge, upon request, to all Education and Youth Group leaders who are arranging a trip with us.

Yes, of course.

If you have heard about a certain hotel or you have a particular hotel in mind where you would like to stay, simply let us know in the "Comments" section at the end of the online Enquiry Form (Enquire Now) and we will be pleased to check availability and include this in your quote.

The simple answer is "...just let us know."

It is impossible for us to send you a quote for every possible hotel option so we usually provide a choice of two or three different hotels in each quote. We are always happy to provide you with other choices and the more information you can give us will help us in finding that sought after hotel that is "Just Right".

We have tens of thousands of hotels available to us throughout the world and we fully accept that we might occassionally select a hotel that doesn't quite meet your requirements. You might prefer a different location or have in mind a particular hotel that you feel would be better suited to your students. Simply drop us a line and we will look for alternative options that better meet what you are looking for

Payments

We have several very simple and straightforward methods available for receiving payment.

The most popular and convenient method for group tours is to take payments by direct bank tansfer and we would be pleased to send you our bank details when the time comes to pay deposits etc.

It is also possible to make payment using a debit or credit card. If you prefer, we are able to send you a Client Payment Form that can be completed and emailed back to us.

As soon as we have received payment of your deposit, we will immediately begin confirming all the relevant flights, accommodation, tours and any other services.

Once your initial documentation becomes available in the booking system (usally within two hours of receiving your deposit) we will email this to you.

Your initial documents will usually include a Receipt, Confirmation of Booking, Flight Confirmations and Confirmation of Accommodation Reservations.

Occasionally, emails which contain attachments can be delayed or filtered out by your email provider. If you have not received your documents from us within 24 hrs, please let us know and we can resend them.
